    What is 3D printing?

    3D printing (additive manufacturing) is a process of creating a product based on a 3D model and used material by the method of layering the material

    The maximum size of the print

    420 * 420 * 450 mm for FDM (plastic string) technology. If your product has larger properties, we will do a careful soldering or splicing and polishing (depends on your wish) the parts until their surface becomes completely smooth.

    Detailing of the print (layer height)

    The lower the parameter, the thinner the layer and the smoother the surface of the finished product. Three variants of the print quality are available for FDM technology – 240, 160, 80 micron. This parameter affects accuracy, appearance and cost of the print.

    How to choose suitable plastic?

    As of today, the easiest and the fastest way to choose a suitable material is to call us and get a high quality consultation from the professionals who will choose the best materials and other parameters of the printing and offer some alternatives, all free of charge.

    The finished product will have mesh filling inside that allows to reduce the cost or to increase the strength. The filling can vary from 10% (minimal filling) to 100% (complete filling), depending on your wishes and operating conditions.

    Wall thickness

    The wall thickness is a separate parameter in 3D printing. It defines thickness of the outer shell from all sides. The wall thickness affects strength and cost of the product, the same way inner filling does. If the inner filling is partial, we can increase the strength of the product by increasing the wall thickness. The wall thickness of 0.8 mm is usually used for exhibition models, prototypes, decor elements and products that won’t be exposed to physical force. The wall thickness of 1.2 mm and more is recommended for products that will be exposed to physical force.

    Dimensional accuracy and shrinkage of material

    The norm in FDM printing is dimensions of the product with an error equal to the half of the nozzle’s diameter (if a nozzle has a diameter of 0.4 mm, an error is 0.2 mm). To achieve higher accuracy than half of the nozzle’s diameter you need to take into account actual dimensions and to adjust the 3D models (for that we need a 3D model format we can edit). That’s why a product printed on a 3D printer for the first time can end up in a trash can. This is perfectly normal and it happens often. The customer doesn’t pay for it. We reprint such products until we get a perfect sample taking into account adjustments of printing parameters and minimal adjustments of the 3D model. We want you to get products with suitable dimensions. If the product you got doesn’t match needed dimensions we’ll will reprint it until we get a product of perfect quality. To minimize the shrinkage we recommend printing with low filling (20-40%) or adjusting dimensions of the 3D model after a test print if you need 100% filling.

    Auxiliary supports for overhanging elements

    Supports are needed for construction of overhanging elements of the models. Those are structures usually filled by 10-15%. The weight of the supports also affects the product’s cost. Since 3D printing is done layer by layer, each new layer lays on top of the previous layer. If the next layer doesn’t have anything to lean on, the elements that won’t allow them to fall are created beforehand. On the preparation stage, we create supports that are removed either by physical or chemical means after the printing. Small marks may remain on the surfaces that were printed with supports.
